As with humans, computers are not all that impervious to viruses. For its foray into the anti-virus game, Affinion has developed the software known as PC SafetyPlus.

Affinion’s brand of virus protection has all the essentials, like real-time detection and spam blockers. Additionally, the software is designed to alert computer users of new virus “strains.”

Of course, PC Safety Plus has the imperative personal firewalls. They enable the computer at hand to deflect hacker attacks and similar infiltrations.

Every PC SafetyPlus comes with protective features against spyware, which is software covertly installed in a computer that gathers information about the user, his/her system and his/her browsing habits. Often the cause of crashes and glitches, spyware is responsible for those irksome popup ads, unsolicited toolbars, and browser redirections.

To keep minors from accessing unsuitable website content, PC SafetyPlus gives their guardians copious Parental Control. PC SafetyPlus intelligently segregates content into adult, hate, weapons, drugs, web mail, and gambling.

Despite all these, the inevitable can happen — computers do break down. Fortunately, for up to $1,000, PC Safety Plus can cover the expenses of fixing computers, whether the damage is physical or virus-triggered.

For good measure, PC SafetyPlus also covers the larger damage done by identity theft, for $10,000 at most. People may not be susceptible to Trojans, but fraudsters are, in their own right, walking viruses.

              Sources:

If the solution proposed by Meek is implemented and finally some progress is made on spectrum allocation, it would be a huge relief for the government, which is trying to persuade the mobile operators to provide broadband in rural areas.

As the 900MHz range is recognized as ideal for mobile broadband, the other telecom suppliers in the country are not too pleased with Meek’s new proposal.

The proliferation of fast Internet access coupled with the flexibility and cheaper cost of calls using VoIP phone has made this burgeoning technology very attractive to prospective customers. Voice over IP is now one of the rapidly-growing applications on the World Wide Web with around four million VoIP users in the United Kingdom alone, not including business subscriptions.

The first step that should be taken when looking into setting up an account is to look into the available VoIP providers and the selection of services they offer. Once the provider and service have been chosen the next stage is setting up your account. This is fairly easy but do keep in mind that you should check your service offers a local number. Some VoIP providers don’t cover every phone exchange in which case you are likely to be offered a number from the nearest exchange thats available.

Having a non-local number may not seem important when VoIP is used for outgoing calls, it will be of concern to your family and friends when they make long distance (or national rate) calls to speak to you even though they may live next door. There are some VoIP providers that only offer non-geographic numbers, using codes such as 0870, 0845 or 056. In the case of non-geographic numbers some limitations exist: Calls to 0870 and 0845 numbers are prohibited from most landline, mobile and VoIP providers’ all-inclusive call packages. In the case of 056 numbers, it is not possible to call them from outside the UK at present.

Thought should be given to making sure you still have a landline as a backup. The reason for this is that if there is a blackout you are likely to lose your broadband connection – because the router and ADSL modem need power – and your VoIP access too, because the VoIP hardware needs to be connected to the mains. There are some types of VoIP equipment that offer a emergency option that will connect urgent calls, and all calls if there should be a power failure, to a landline. You should check this point with your provider if you feel that you need to have this option included in your service.

Some VoIP companies offer services that allow you to pay for calls as you go while others offer a service that charges a single, all-inclusive fee. Plans offering unlimited local and national calls are also available for small businesses and for residential users. In the case of businesses additional features such as a free fax service are often included. There is a pricing option available to fit your needs.

Just contact the service provider of your choice and they will set up an account for you. The average person should be up and running with VoIP in about half an hour. Start saving money with VoIP today!

You do not hear many complaints from iPod customers. All The Same, one matter oftentimes mentioned is the inability to transfer video and audio files from their iPod to a new PC Though the iPod has no trouble transferring songs, video clips and photos from a desktop computer to iPod using iTunes, the opposite is disallowed. If you don’t use iPod Copy Software System, you will not be able to move your iPod videos and songs to another personal computer. This subject oftentimes comes up when iPod users get a new personal computer or have to reinstall the operating system on their existing machine. Apple forbids this process because it does not want unauthorised sharing of bought videos and music from the iTunes marketplace. Nevertheless, there are multiple legitimate scenarios that people require the power to copy from iPod to PC. If a PC crashes and you have to install Windows, you may need iPod to Computer copy software to recover your worthful data files. Differently, the clean installation of iTunes will wipe clean your iPod, potentially costing you lots of dollars in unrecoverable files. An additional common time customers require these types of computer software is when they buy a new machine and need to put their existing library of iPod music and videos on the new personal computer. Once Again, if you don’t have this type of application, you might potentially lose your worthful songs. There are hundreds web providers that provide software applications to execute this chore. A prompt visit to freeware websites will reveal a handful of selections. You can also just type the phrase ‘iPod to PC transfer software’ into Google.

You have superhuman senses, but you don’t know it yet.

You can detect the presence of a tiny speck of anthrax in a vast public space, or count the fish in a 4,000 square mile area. You can hear a gunshot hundreds of yards away and use your super-powerful vision to zoom in on a criminal as he tries to escape. You can look in the eyes of a person you’ve never met, and tell me her identity.

Best of all, with every passing day, your superhuman senses grow stronger. You acquire new ones, too.

No, you didn’t get bitten by a radioactive spider or exposed to gamma radiation. You’re not a mutant X-Man.

You are just lucky enough to be alive during the birth of a new class of computers, called sensors. They are multiplying faster than chocolate stains at a nursery school birthday party.

In the time it took me to write this far, the human race deployed thousands of new sensors into the world. Some are old-hat sensors like burglar alarms and smoke detectors. But others extend and supercharge our senses in ways that seem ripped out of the pages of your favorite comic book.

If a tree grows in the forest and no one is there, does it make a noise? Sensors are being added to forests – often to study the behavior of wild animals – and the answer is a resounding yes.

Sensors called drifters have been floating on ocean currents for several years now, sending back information not only to researchers but also to elementary school classrooms. In the process, we are learning immense amounts about our oceans and climate.

Thanks to sensors, Air Force pilots in Colorado Springs now control drone planes that run bombing missions in Afghanistan; the pilots’ biggest problem is coming home to a normal family life at 5 pm, after operating in a war zone.

Sensors extend your senses to see the very little, and the very distant. They can detect pathogens at the molecular level, and monitor the Earth – or other planets – over vast distances. Pictures from satellites show the impact of human development on places such as Mexico City, Las Vegas and the Amazon.

Never before have you – or any other human – been able to see in such detail how our world changes from one day to the other, or one year to the next.

Four big changes are impacting the growth of your new superhuman senses:

Sensors are increasingly becoming wireless, which means they can operate almost anywhere.

We are figuring out how to get sensors to use very small amounts of power, or even to generate all the power they need from their environment (i.e. solar power, or power from natural vibrations.)

Sensors are shrinking rapidly.

Sensors are being networked together.

Altogether, these changes mean that sensors will literally be woven into the fabric of our world.

Think of a new Internet of sensors, which will extend your senses in ways that are difficult to imagine. Do you know where your children are right now? Soon, your answer will always be yes.

In fact, it’s already a mistake to think that Google only searches web pages. Through the web, you can already access millions of sensor readings, from radar screens and satellite imagery to sensor data from nature preserves such as Great Duck Island

If you have ever read a comic book, you know that gaining superhuman powers will change your life. Peter Parker didn’t come home with new spider powers and go on with life as usual. These powers turned his life upside down.

Likewise, these new powers will change the course of human history. Quickly.

Sensors will reveal the truth about our history, environment, interactions, and universe. Just look at NBC’s Olympic coverage, and you’ll get an idea what I mean. They can now superimpose one ski racer’s run over his competitor, so you can see precisely when and how one racer got the edge. No more vague generalities; we can now see 1/100ths of a second differences between two performances.

Knowing the truth excites some people, and terrifies others. Just ask Superman what it’s like to have x-ray vision. Sometimes it’s pretty depressing to know the truth.

Take a moment and look around. In less time than it will take the Yankees to win another World Series, sensors will be in your clothing, walls, pets, vehicles and body. Of course, you may be an early adopter, in which case all of these are already true.
